I am posting this friends only, and I am posting it because I don't want to tell over and over again.

Today Jim and I both had appointments today at the doctors. He was in the room next to mine and we were playing on the phones to each other (our cells) and peeking out the door at each other. It was really comical.

The doctor saw him first.

Then it was my turn. I had went last year and the doctor called to say he wanted to discuss something in my blood test. I blew it off.

Today, my blood pressure was 180/100....... then he walked in and first thing he says to me is..... "so you are having difficulty with your colon cancer"?

I had told them about the blood in my stool so maybe that's where he got the colon thing.

He went on to tell me last year what he saw was a very high CA125 ? Cancer screen.

He has ordered me to go to E.R. and tell them I have blood in my stool and he wrote out an order for a colostomy.

He wants me there.... like now.

I am so afraid and trying to stay calm ...... Needless to say, I'm not going today. I just need to digest and I don't know what.

I don't want sympathy I just want my friends to wish good thoughts, pray... what ever you believe in, please send it my way !

NANSELTAR	Posted on 10:12PM on Feb 23rd, 2009 Marji, are you sure he said "colostomy", not colonoscopy? I had one a few months ago (and a gastroscopy at the same time). (You can read about that in MY blog, if you're interested.) One of my closest girlfriends went through the colon cancer thing a couple of years ago. Like you, she was afraid of the blood in her stool, afraid to find out what was causing it. But she was bullied into going to the doctor, and her cancer was confirmed. Of course she was frightened. But she had her surgery and now she is perfectly well. Be glad that your problem was discovered (if indeed it turns out that you do have cancer). Now you can be treated and all will be well! Be sure to ask the doctors and techies to explain any terms you don't understand - like CA125. P.M. me anytime you want about this, if you want to. Luvya kid. Nan

Marji	Posted on 11:32AM on Feb 24th, 2009 Thank you all so much...Nan, you are right... it's a colonoscopy he has ordered. on his order he has Elevated CEA with concern for colon n something. I have decided I will be going Monday at 3 a.m.

jesynta	Posted on 12:07PM on Feb 24th, 2009 I hope all goes well with your examination. The doctor probably meant 'colonoscopy' which is an examination of the large bowel or colon. The most common reason for having blood in your stools is having haemorrhoids, so I will hope that you have something like this and not something more serious. Email me if you wish to talk more, I am an RN. You should not put your appointment off for long though, best to get it checked out sooner rather than later, at the least it will reduce some of your anxiety.
